Yesterday evening, Ahmed Issa, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, chaired the first meeting of the Board of Directors of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, after assuming his post as Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, at the museum’s headquarters in Fustat.

And Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, and Amr El-Kady, CEO of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Activation, participated in the virtual meeting, via video conference.

The Minister began the meeting by welcoming the members of the Council and getting to know them, and thanked them for the kindness and hospitality of their reception, and for their efforts and time, which contributes to supporting the works of the Museum, stressing that the continuation of cooperation together will achieve the best desired results and increasing goals to launch this great edifice to higher horizons. spacious.

The Minister also thanked and appreciated Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, the former Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, addressed to him on behalf of the members of the Board of Directors, a letter from the Board of thanks, greetings, honor and appreciation for his efforts and achievements during his leadership of the Council and this edifice.

Ahmed Issa spoke about the importance of the opening event of the museum and its reception of the royal mummies from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir in a solemn procession, and everyone interacted with this event in a great way, especially the feeling of the masses of Egyptians with pride in their ancient civilization, noting that this event and the effectiveness of Luxor Rams Road were one of the reasons for the increased demand for The product of cultural tourism in Egypt during the past months, which is still continuing during the upcoming winter season due to the great views of them and other important promotional events that Egypt witnessed.

During the meeting, Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the Museum Authority, gave a presentation on the performance of the museum, the number of visitors in it during the last period and the percentage of revenues it achieved, pointing to the increase in visitors during the month of September, especially from foreigners, to visit the museum compared to the same month last year. .

Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim also briefed the council on the most prominent cultural and various tourist activities organized and hosted by the museum during the last period, including the museum’s organization of a memorial ceremony for the late Dr. Ahmed Morsi, professor of popular literature, folklore and folklore at Cairo University and one of the great scientific figures who has sold in the museum show and a committee The scenario in this museum, in addition to organizing a concert by the artist Nesma Mahgoub, and the opening of an archival photo exhibition in cooperation with the Spanish Embassy in Cairo, in addition to organizing a number of scientific and cultural lectures and various workshops, some of which shed light on the heritage of the Egyptian governorates.

During the meeting, council members agreed that a 50% discount on museum entry tickets would be granted to Egyptians on September 27, as part of the ministry’s celebration of the 200th anniversary of deciphering ancient Egyptian writing and the emergence of Egyptology.
