Egypt announces raising the minimum wage to 3,000 pounds per month

announce Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa MadboulyToday, Wednesday, it announced the approval of a new social protection package in the country worth 67 billion pounds, which includes raising the minimum wage in Egypt to 3,000 pounds per month.

After a government meeting, Madbouly said that the new package of measures includes raising the minimum wage for government workers from 2,700 to 3,000 pounds.

He added that an exceptional bonus was also approved for all state workers and pensioners, and it was agreed to provide financial support to families on ration cards until next June 30, without increasing electricity prices until that date.

Madbouly said that the new measures include disbursing financial support to troubled companies due to the current crisis, provided that workers are not laid off, in addition to approving an exceptional premium to confront the high costs of all workers in the state, its subsidiaries and pensioners, at an amount of 300 pounds.

He added that it was decided to raise the tax exemption limit from 24,000 pounds to 30,000 pounds per person per year.

Madbouly indicated that the new package comes in implementation of the first output of the economic conference organized by Egypt this week.

The approval of the new package comes a day after Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi announced that he had issued directives not to burden citizens with additional burdens during the coming period due to global economic conditions.
