Dr. Mostafa Madbouly announced that the Council of Ministers approved, during its meeting today, the new social protection package, in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, in this regard, and as an implementation of the first output of the economic conference, explaining that one of the most important components of this package, whose implementation will begin this month. Next, the approval of an exceptional bonus of 300 pounds per month, for all employees of the state’s administrative apparatus and its subsidiaries, as well as for pensioners, to confront the high cost of living.

The Prime Minister added: “The new social protection package also includes raising the minimum wage to 3000 pounds per month, instead of 2,700 pounds per month, provided that this decision will apply accordingly to the rest of the various financial grades, so that a gradual increase for those grades is made, based on the minimum limit report. for wages.

With regard to the private sector, the Prime Minister indicated that a clear mechanism will be established to compensate and support workers in various companies that have stumbled, or stopped their work as a result of the current global crisis, so that financial support will be disbursed until 30/6/2023, for employment in those companies, provided that they do not dispensing with it, pointing in this regard to the mandate issued to the Ministers of Finance, Social Solidarity, and Manpower, to develop the required mechanism in this regard, which will be announced soon.

The Prime Minister noted that it was also agreed to continue the work of the social protection package, which was announced during the last period, to provide financial support to the targeted families, through ration cards, in segments ranging from 100 to 300 pounds, from which more people benefit. Of the 10.5 million families restricted to ration cards, explaining that this package was scheduled to expire on 12/31/2022, but it was agreed to continue working on it until 30/6/2023.

The Prime Minister stressed the directives issued by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, not to increase any fees on citizens during the coming period, and in this context, it was agreed to continue working with the previous decision issued not to increase electricity prices, until 30/6/2023, which It was scheduled to expire on December 31, 2022.

The Prime Minister noted that the new social protection package is a set of integrated decisions, through which the state aims to support and support citizens in facing the current conditions resulting from the current global crises, adding that this package will include presenting to Parliament a draft law to raise the tax exemption limit for citizens, so that The minimum tax exemption is raised from 24 thousand pounds per year to 30 thousand pounds per year, which means that owners of incomes up to 2500 pounds per month will not be deducted from any tax in this regard.

Madbouly indicated that the cost of the new social protection package for the state is close to 67 billion pounds per year, adding: These measures come in implementation of the President’s assignments, and the government’s belief in the need to support citizens in light of the current global crisis.
