Amir Mortada Mansour, the general supervisor of football in Zamalek, said that his club was surprised that its international players joined the ranks of the Egyptian national team without obtaining their permission.
On Wednesday, Mahmoud Hamdi “Al Wensh”, Imam Ashour, Ahmed Sayed “Zizou” and Ahmed Fattouh joined the Egyptian national team in preparation for the Niger and Liberia friendly matches on September 23 and 27.
Amir Mortada spoke to the Zamalek TV channel, saying: “We were surprised that the 25th of this month of September was set as the date for the return leg of the preliminary round in the African Champions League during the international break.”
He continued, “Our contact with the African Union was to discuss the idea of holding the two Elect matches in Egypt only, and we did not discuss the dates of the two matches.”
He continued, “We did not receive any letter from the Football Association requesting that the players join the national team camp. I spoke with Jamal Allam, president of the Football Association, and Walid Al-Attar, CEO.”
And Amir Mortada added, “We were surprised that the players were not in training, and when I spoke to them, I knew that the team’s administrator called them by phone and informed them of the date of joining the camp, and then I learned the news from the official page of the Football Association.”
He added, “I sent a letter to the Football Association, explaining the current situation of Zamalek, and that we will play an official match in an official tournament, and that we only have 14 players, including three guards.”
And the general supervisor of the ball in Zamalek added in his speech, “Hamza Mathlouthi and Saif Al-Jaziri in Tunisia, and we have many players who have left the team and there are others in the Olympic team.”
He continued, “As for the new deals, we can only participate in them with the role of 32, according to the registration regulations.”
He stressed, “There is damage to us and I was told that they feel us, but there is another club that will ask questions if we bring the players back to you. Well, this club does not participate in the 64th round of the Champions League.”
“I will not wait for exclusion from an official tournament because of a friendly match,” he added.
And he added, “I sent the letter to the Football Association, and I was surprised that the response required the players to join the team while they were already in the camp.”
Amir Mortada concluded his speech, “Josevaldo Ferreira, the coach of the team, is upset that the players joined the team suddenly.”
