Chelsea have announced the signing of Noni Madueki from PSV Eindhoven in the winter transfer window.
Madueki signed a contract with Chelsea for 7 and a half seasons.
Madueki became Chelsea’s sixth winter signing this January.
Chelsea previously signed Portuguese Joao Felix, Ukrainian Mikhailo Modric, Ivorian David Datro Fofana, French Benoit Badiachelli and Brazilian Andre Santos.
Madueki (20 years old) is an English winger of Nigerian descent, who was formed at Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur, before moving to the Eindhoven Academy in 2018.
Madueki played 80 matches with the first team for PSV, during which he scored two goals and assisted 14 goals.
The British newspaper “Daily Mail” reported that the deal cost Chelsea approximately 29 million pounds.
The report indicated that Chelsea made a first offer of 26.5 million pounds sterling, but the Dutch club rejected it.
Graham Potter, the current Chelsea manager, has followed the player closely since he was coach of Brighton & Hove Albion.
Potter was asked about the prospective deal during the pre-match press conference with Liverpool.
Potter replied: “There is a lot of noise around the transfer market, but at the moment there is nothing to announce.”
He added: “The club has not announced anything, which is why I am not in a position to talk about him as a Chelsea player.”
Madueki plays in the England under-21 youth team, and has the right to represent Nigeria in the future.
Madueki has a shooting rate of 5.5 shots per game in the Eredivisie this season.
Madueki is also the player who touches the ball the most inside the opponents’ penalty area in the Dutch league this season, with 8.2 touches per match.
