FilGoal | News | Sport: Barcelona is negotiating with Pique and Alba their departure in January

Barcelona is intensifying its moves to get rid of its high-paid veteran players next January.

And the Spanish newspaper “Sport” reported that Barcelona is currently working on the departure of Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba in the winter transfers.

The report referred to what it called the “second revolution”, as Barcelona wants to improve its list next January.

In order to be able to move in the transfer market, Barcelona needs to get rid of two heavy names on its list, namely Pique and Alba.

Barcelona has already begun negotiating with them to reach a settlement and their departure from the club.

The Barcelona administration seeks to provide the huge salaries that the duo receives, as they are expected to receive 145 million euros until the end of their contracts, 80 million euros for Pique, and 65 million euros for Alba.

With their departure from the club, the salary cap will drop, allowing the registration of other players.

The report indicated that the negotiations to leave with Alba will be complicated because the left-back does not want to leave, despite knowing that he did not enter into coach Xavi Hernandez’s plans.

Barcelona tried to get rid of Alba in the last minutes of the summer transfer market by facilitating his departure to Inter Milan, but the player refused and expressed his dissatisfaction with the move in subsequent statements.

Alba, 33, became the third left-back in the team after Marcos Alonso and Alex Baldi. Alba has played only 501 minutes this season, divided into 7 matches.

The situation was worse for Pique (35), who played only 440 minutes, ahead of defenders Eric Garcia, Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Jules Conde and even Marcos Alonso, who was used in the depth of defense.
