FilGoal | News | Van Dyck: I’m not naive I know I’m off to a bad start

Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk has admitted to a poor start to the season and feels more responsible as captain.

The Netherlands will face Poland in the fifth round of the European Nations League.

“I know I could have done better at the beginning of the season,” Van Dijk told The Athletic. “I’m not naive and I know when I make mistakes.”

“I know that I am one of the important players in the club and of course also here in the national team, so I feel responsible,” he added.

“Mentally, it’s a challenge. You feel a lot of pressure on your head, a lot of people forget that too, if you’re in my case one of the pillars you get a lot of criticism and you have to deal with that which is not easy.”

Liverpool has won only twice in six rounds in the English Premier League and is in eighth place with nine points.

Windmills won 2-0 against Poland: scored by Cody Jakbo andStephen Bergwein.

Cody Jakbo took the lead in the 14th minute for the Netherlands after a pass from Denzel Dumfries, who took advantage of the first and put it in the empty net.

Bergwein added the second at the 60th minute, after two passes between him and Vincent Janssen, and eventually found the net.

With this victory, the Dutch team was alone at the top of the group with 13 points, while Poland’s balance with 4 points was frozen in third place.

Fourth group ranking:

Netherlands: 13 points.

Belgium: 10 points.

Poland: 4 points.
