The Petroleum Services Company for Safety and Environment, one of the petroleum sector companies, published on its Facebook page how to manufacture green hydrogen and its benefits, as it indicated that green hydrogen is the future of clean energy in the coming decades, as its use leads to a significant elimination of carbon emissions. In addition to its ability to increase the rate of contribution of renewable energy to daily uses.
She pointed out that green hydrogen is produced through the electrolysis of water (H2O) to separate oxygen atoms (O2) from hydrogen (H2) and then use hydrogen as fuel directly or store and transport it in different ways.
And she continued: “The hydrogen flame produces water vapor only when burned, unlike conventional fuels, which emit gases harmful to the environment and to humans.”
She stated: “Green hydrogen can be converted into electricity – in power stations – or industrial gas, and used for domestic, commercial, industrial or transportation purposes. It can also be mixed with other natural gas at rates of up to 20% and added to gas pipelines.”
According to a report issued by the International Energy Agency (IEA), green hydrogen production technology may provide about 25% of the world’s energy needs by 2050, and will save the consumption of about 830 million tons of carbon dioxide that is emitted annually when producing this gas using coal or petroleum.
