How to use the WhatsApp calling feature on WhatsApp Web

The desktop calling feature in WhatsApp is only available for WhatsApp Web.

The application supports these systems

Mac OS X 10.10 and later.

Windows 10 and later (64-bit version).

Windows 10 and later versions (32-bit version).

To make free voice and video calls on WhatsApp, install the WhatsApp app from the Microsoft Store or Mac App Store.

In order to make or receive calls on WhatsApp Desktop, you will have to connect an audio output device and a microphone to your computer.

Also give WhatsApp permission to access your computer’s microphone and camera.

And WhatsApp on the web does not support group calls, so users can only make one-on-one voice or video calls.

How to make video or audio calls on WhatsApp Web

Open the individual chat you want to make a call to.

Then click on the video call or audio icon

You can also mute or unmute the microphone during a call by clicking the microphone icon, or turn the camera off or on by clicking the camera icon.

How to switch between audio and video calls on WhatsApp on the web

During the audio call you can ask your contact to switch to a video call or the receipt can accept to switch the call mode by clicking OK or Switch to switch the call or Cancel to decline.

Click the camera icon.

Your ongoing audio call will be switched to a video call if your contact accepts the switch request.
