Localizing the mobile industry locally provides more than one billion dollars in annual imports

Efforts to deepen local manufacturing have begun to take a new turn in several areas, coinciding with the start of the production wheel in the mobile phone sector, for example, which is one of the technological sectors that constitute a large portion of Egyptian consumption.

The production of mobile phones in Egypt opens the door to the localization of information technology in Egypt and to meet the needs of the Egyptian market locally instead of relying on the outside, and also provides annual dollar resources in billions of dollars, according to data confirmed by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, where Egypt’s total imports of mobile phones are estimated only about 3 billion and 373 million dollars in the past two years (2020-2021).
