Qatar News Agency: President Sisi’s visit confirms the development of bilateral relations

The Qatar Agency added – in a report, today, Tuesday, that President Sisi’s visit to Doha is of particular importance in terms of its timing, as it comes before the launch of the Arab Summit in Algeria next November, as well as the work of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, and coincides with a number of developments. The accelerating international situation, especially with regard to the situation and developments in the Middle East, and the Russian military operation in Ukraine, which requires increasing and intensifying consultation and coordination between the two countries regarding all developments and various issues affecting Arab security, aspirations, aspirations and the legitimate rights of the brotherly Arab peoples, in order to achieve Arab unity and security and stability in the region, serving Arab interests and positions in various forums and increasing their solidity and immunity to all challenges and dangers.

She pointed out that President El-Sisi’s visit to Doha and the talks that will take place during it constitute a promising new stage and an important station in the course of bilateral relations between Doha and Cairo, and elevate them to the level of a promising and fruitful partnership in the service of the common interests of the two countries and brotherly peoples and the higher interests of the Arab and Islamic nations.

She added that the Qatari-Egyptian relations stem from a firm belief in the unity of goals and a common destiny, and that both countries constitute an important strategic dimension and weight for the other country. The first ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Arab Republic of Egypt submitted his credentials in 1972, and the first ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the State of Qatar presented his credentials in the same year.

She added that the State of Qatar has been keen, during the long history of relations with Egypt, to build these relations on mutual appreciation and respect in view of the value and important position Egypt represents based on its long history.

The agency stated that the relations between the two countries regulate a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding, which include the political, commercial, economic and labor sectors, the promotion and protection of mutual investments, air transport, youth, sports, education, scientific research, the media and cultural fields, and cultural and archaeological cooperation.



She added that the Qatari-Egyptian relations are witnessing a movement of active contacts and visits from both sides towards documenting them for the interests of the two countries and peoples, and supporting and activating the mechanisms of joint Arab action. In this context, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, paid an official visit to the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt on the twenty-fourth of Last June, at the invitation of his brother President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.. She pointed out that the visit of the Emir of the State of Qatar to the Arab Republic of Egypt constituted a prominent station in the course of relations between Doha and Cairo, and opened new and broad horizons for the development and strengthening of bilateral relations to cover large areas of files and political, economic and other issues, and to promote joint Arab action, especially in light of the current challenges. witnessed in the region and the world.

The agency pointed out that on the twenty-ninth of last March, a meeting was held in Cairo between Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouly and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, during which they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries. And the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination between them in various fields, and the two sides praised the formation of a joint higher committee headed by the two foreign ministers with the aim of continuous consultation and strengthening cooperation and coordination in all fields.

The agency stated that in the context of enhancing economic and investment cooperation between the two parties, the two sides indicated an agreement on a set of investments and partnerships in the Arab Republic of Egypt, with a total amount of five billion dollars during the coming period.

At the same time, a meeting was held in Cairo between Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, which dealt with bilateral relations and the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination between them in various fields. She pointed out that the Qatari-Egyptian Follow-up Committee had held its seventh meeting in Doha in September last year, and the Qatari-Egyptian Legal Committee held its sixth meeting on September 13 and 14 last year in Doha, and these meetings resulted in reaching an agreement on many issues on the agendas. committees, and signing a number of bilateral agreements to enhance cooperation and coordination between the competent authorities.

She added that the Qatar Postal Services Company signed with the Egyptian National Post Authority an agreement and protocol in the field of postal cooperation, and the General Authority of Civil Aviation in the State of Qatar signed with the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority a memorandum of understanding in the field of air transport, and this step comes within the framework of strengthening relations of cooperation and coordination between the two countries. .

She pointed out that many members of the Egyptian community in Qatar work in public and private sector projects that support the comprehensive renaissance process in the country, and a number of Egyptian companies work in the Qatari market, and there are many Qatari investments in the Egyptian market, including, for example, investments for the Qatar Investment Authority estimated at about $3.317 billion in resorts and tourism projects.

She added that there are consultations between the two countries to expand and increase investments in new areas, especially energy projects, raise the volume of trade exchange, facilitate mutual investments and remove obstacles that may prevent that.
