Eng. Mohamed Said Nashaat, President of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Company in Beheira, received a delegation of the European Union Commission headed by Ms. Sophie Vanhavbeke, responsible for the Egyptian-European cooperation file, accompanied by Eng. Maged Reda, Deputy Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, and Dr. Ayman Ayyad, Director of the Water and Utilities Sector at the European Union Commission , to inspect the 12 projects funded by the European Union in the field of drinking water and sanitation within the Beheira governorate, serving about one million people, within the program to improve drinking water and sanitation services, with a total funding of 1.2 billion pounds.
The head of Lake Water said that 10 projects have been completed and benefited from in the areas of (Damanhour, Shabrakhit, Mahmoudiyah, and Abu Homs), which led to the improvement of drinking water inside the city of Damanhour, overcoming the weak water pressure in those areas and eliminating citizens’ complaints. Projects and improvements were also completed. Sewerage service and the elimination of overflow problems in the streets of Damanhour, Shabrakhit and Mahmoudia, which directly affect the daily life of Bahrawi citizens.
Sophie Vanhavbeke, responsible for the European cooperation file, praised the development and quality of service, and she visited the Secondary Technical School for Drinking Water and Sanitation in the Lake, and praised the company’s interest in technical education.
The European Union delegation thanked the Lake Water Company for the efforts made by all those in charge of the project.
