Dr. Jad Al-Qadi, President of the National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research, announced the date of the crescent of the month of Rabi` Al-Awwal, the month of the birth of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace.

He explained that, according to the astronomical calculations conducted by the Sun Research Laboratory at the Institute, the crescent of the month of Rabi’ al-Awwal will be born immediately after the conjunction occurs at exactly 11:56 pm Cairo local time, on Sunday 29 Safar 1444 AH corresponding to 25/9/2022 AD (the day of sighting). .

He explained that the new crescent will not be born yet at sunset (the day of sighting) in the city of Cairo, as well as in all Arab and Islamic capitals and cities.

He pointed out that in some Arab and Islamic countries, there is a period of time for the crescent to remain above the horizon after sunset on that day (the day of sighting) in some Arab and Islamic countries, despite the fact that pairing occurs in them after sunset on that day, where the crescent sets after sunset on that day, and the period of stay is not considered. This is because the pairing occurs after sunset on that day, and thus Monday 26/9/2022 CE will complete the month of Safar 1444 AH, and thus the first astronomical month of Rabi’ al-Awwal 1444 AH will be on Tuesday 27/9/2022 CE.

The Prophet’s birthday falls on the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal of the Hijri year, corresponding to the 8th of October, and is an official holiday.

The Prophet’s Birthday holiday is the last holiday in 2022, preceded by the October Victory Day holiday, which falls on Thursday, October 6.
