The Minister of Business Sector witnesses the signing of a memorandum to provide short-staple cotton to spinning mills

Engineer Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Public Business Sector, witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Holding Company for Cotton, Spinning, Weaving and Clothing, and the Sudanese Mahjoub Awlad Holding Company, for joint cooperation in the production of short-staple cotton in Sudan and manufacturing in Egypt.

The agreement was signed by Wajdi Mahgoub, Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Mahgoub Awlad” Group, and Dr. Ahmed Mustafa, Executive Managing Director of the Holding Company for Cotton, Spinning and Weaving.

The minister explained that the memorandum of understanding signed between the two parties comes within the framework of meeting and securing the needs of the affiliated spinning and weaving companies of short-staple cotton – which are imported from abroad – and on which the majority of the spinning and weaving factories depend locally and globally, in contrast to what the affiliated factories use of Egyptian long-staple cotton for products. high quality.

For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Mahgoub Awlad” confirmed his group’s intention to work to cover part of the Egyptian market’s needs of Sudanese cotton, expressing his happiness with the joint cooperation between the two parties.

According to the memorandum of understanding, Mahjoub Awlad Company will grow and gin Sudanese cotton for the benefit of the Holding Company at prices to be agreed upon in each season according to international prices, and some production lines will be made available in some of the holding company’s factories with specific cards to operate for the Sudanese company for the different stages of production.
