Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, held an extensive meeting that included a group of major Indian companies specialized in the fields of communications and information technology. The meeting was organized by the Egyptian Trade Representative Office in India in coordination with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Bangalore, India. With the aim of highlighting the attractive investment climate in Egypt, and inviting Indian companies to invest in the Egyptian ICT sector and cooperate in implementing Egypt’s digital projects.
And in his word; Dr. Amr Talaat discussed the measures taken by Egypt to attract foreign investments and develop the information technology industry. Referring to the efforts made by the state to achieve digital transformation through the implementation of a large number of national projects, which carry great opportunities for investment; Pointing to the Egyptian state’s interest in localizing the electronics industry, as the last period witnessed the attraction of many major international manufacturing companies in Egypt to serve the local market and export to regional markets.
Dr. Amr Talaat also met with Anis Chinchah, CEO of Wipro in Asia, the Pacific and the Middle East, and a number of the company’s leading leaders in the field of providing consulting, services and technological solutions that meet the needs of digital transformation. During the meeting, projects related to Digital Egypt and opportunities for cooperation with the company were reviewed, especially with the availability of professionally qualified young talents in the fields of information technology.
Dr. Amr Talaat reviewed the efforts exerted to prepare digital cadres through capacity building programs implemented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and its affiliates.
Dr. Amr Talaat also met with Padama Partharathy, Head of Global Consulting, and Sudhir Nair, CEO of Infrastructure and Cloud Computing Services and Businesses at Tech Mahindra, a company specialized in information technology services and consulting. The meeting dealt with discussing the solutions and technologies provided by the company, such as Metaverse technology, and exploring the opportunity to expand the activities and works of the company’s center in Egypt. And highlighting Egypt’s potential in the field of industrial outsourcing.
In a related context; Dr. Amr Talaat and his accompanying delegation discussed with Amit Sharma, Managing Partner of the IBM Global Center for Information Technology Services, and Arnab Saha, Head of the Innovative Solutions Center; The plan to expand the center’s activities in Cairo. The meeting witnessed a review of the center’s activities in India in terms of the services provided and the most important technologies used.
The meetings were attended by Eng. Ahmed Al-Zaher, Acting CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), Eng. Shereen El-Gendy, Assistant Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Strategy and Implementation, and Eng. Mohamed Nasr El-Din, Assistant Minister for International Informatics Infrastructure.
It is worth noting that Dr. Amr Talaat and his accompanying delegation are visiting India from January 9 to 13; During which he will meet with government officials and CEOs of major Indian companies specialized in the field of communications and information technology to discuss cooperation and attract Indian investments to the Egyptian market.
