Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, held an expanded meeting to follow up on the executive position of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, and to follow up on the latest preparations for a ceremony to announce the winning projects, which is scheduled to be held on Thursday, November 3rd.
During the meeting, Hala Al-Saeed discussed the preparations that were implemented in preparation for holding a conference to announce the winning projects within the initiative, which is scheduled to participate in the COP27 Conference of Parties, which Egypt will host in November in Sharm El-Sheikh.
Hala Al-Saeed said that the national initiative for smart green projects is being implemented in the governorates of the Arab Republic of Egypt, as a pioneering initiative in the field of sustainable and smart development and dealing with the environmental dimension and the effects of climate change, adding that this is done by developing a map at the governorate level for smart green projects and attracting the necessary investments for them. He explained that the initiative comes within the framework of the current efforts to chair and host the COP27 Conference of Parties, as well as efforts to achieve sustainable development in the context of implementing Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the implementation of the National Climate Change Strategy 2050.
Hala Al-Saeed stressed the importance of providing the necessary supplies for the conference to come out in the best way, as well as preparing arrangements for the participation of the initiative in the Conference of Parties and presenting the 18 projects that were selected by the projects jury at its last meeting, explaining that among the goals of the initiative is presenting an unprecedented initiative globally. It focuses on implementation and application on the ground, with an emphasis on the seriousness of dealing with the environmental dimension and climate change within the framework of achieving sustainable development goals and digital transformation by presenting projects that achieve those goals.
